Studs of Ounce Cattery

RW QGCH SimplySimes White Knight of Ounce

Somebody pinch me!  White Knight is the 17th Best ShortHair Cat for the Mid-Pacific Region in 2012.

In addition, White Knight was awarded Best Seal Spotted Lynx Point Bengal of the Year (2012) for the Mid-Pacific Region.  This is the third year in a row that Ounce Cattery has been awarded the best Seal Lynx Point Bengal for our region!!   This is a tremendous honor and we are surprised and humbled.  Joy!

White Knight is our handsome Seal Lynx Point male of Ounce Cattery.

RW =
Regional Winner
 Quadruple Grand Champion
SimplySimes = his breeder's cattery name
White Knight = When you think of "White Knight" words like honor, respect, loyalty, integrity and goodness come to mind.
Add to that the role of the knight in the game of chess.  The knight is the only piece that can be in position to attack a king, queen, bishop, or rook without being reciprocally attacked by that piece. The knight defends and protects.  For all of these things our beautiful White Knight was named.
of Ounce = our cattery name named after the majestic snow leopard (also known as "ounce")

White Knight is a Seal Lynx Point Bengal.  His ground color is ivory with rosetted spots.
His points are all the dark seal brown.   White Knight has the most gorgeous rosettes that I have ever seen on a Seal Lynx Point as they resemble those found on the clouded leopard.  His coat dripping with glitter.

White Knight was born on September 9, 2012 at SimplySimes (breeder Beth Bearry/Lori Simes) in Jackson, California.

Parents & Pedigree
His mom/dam was CH SimplySimes Vanilla Creme (SBT 080408 031) and dad/sire TNT Bengals Night Stalker of Absolute Angels (SBT 101507 036).

One word:  F U N!
White Knight is well, a goober.  He is silly and playful.  He loves to fetch mice, feathers, pens, stuffed be honest we haven't found something he won't fetch.
He is so loving and likes to take over a spot with a HUGE plop.  This includes keyboards (while one is typing), laps, chairs, you name it.
White Knight makes the most interesting sounds.  Whether it be his ALC sounding "meow" or his puffed up pant.  If you hear an interesting sound, you can almost bet it is coming out of him!!

White Knight is completely healthy having received a check up and all his shots prior to coming to our house.

Ounce Yossarian

Yossarian is the homegrown boy, raised underfoot at Ounce Cattery.

Ounce = our cattery name named after the majestic snow leopard (also known as "ounce")
Yossarian = named after the ficitional character and protagonist in Joseph Heller's novel Catch-22.  In the novel, Yossarian is a 28-year-old Air Force Captain who is stationed on the island of Pianosa during WWII.  Like the original, our Yossarian believes the world is out to get him or at least his humans are and lives by the motto "live forever or die in the attempt"  or maybe it is "eat often, but sleep more" (see personality below).

Yossarian is a Brown (Black) Spotted Bengal.  His ground color is warm brown with rosetted, mostly arrowheads, spots.  His coat is so thick and soft that I don't mind at all when he face plants me with a full body rub.  His coat is also so glittered that he glitters indoors!  :)

Yossarian was born on April 21, 2011 at Ounce Cattery.  He has one brother named Holden who is a Seal Lynx Point Spotted Bengal.

Parents & Pedigree
His mom/dam is SimplySimes LesisMore of Ounce (SBT 042909 067)
and dad/sire QGCH Lucian (SBT 092608 045).

To see Yossarian's pedigree, click here.

Yossarian is the first cat out of our cattery that is - well - shy and skeptical.  He is most at ease when he has a little place of his own that is quiet and controlled.  We find him often in baskets or paper shopping bags or boxes.  Although his favorite place is curled up in his toy bin (see below).

Not one who likes being picked up, he does love plopping down on the keyboard or out of the blue lying down in my lap to get attention.  Like I would need that, his purr is so loud the neighbors can hear him (not that I would've expected anything else from Zelda's son!).

Yossarian is completely healthy having received a check up and all his shots onsite.

HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) - October 2012 and November 2013, Yossarian visited local feline cardiologist (Siemens) and received a healthy heart report!

PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy)
- On August 14, 2012 Yossarian’s test results were returned as N/N - Normal, cat does not have rdAc mutation.

PK DEF (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency) - On August 14, 2012, Yossarian's test results returned as N/N - no copies of PK deficiency, cat is normal.

Bengal Coat Color Results for Ounce Yossarian:

Agouti/Charcoal Result:
A/A2 - No copies of ALC Agouti gene are present. Cannot have charcoal offspring.

Albino Result:
N/N - No copies of albino allele are present.

Amber Result:
E/E - No copies of the mutation for Amber.

Brown Result:
B/B - Full color, cat does not carry brown or cinnamon.

Colorpoint Result:
C/cs - Carrier of Siamese colorpoint restriction.

Dilute Result:
D/D - Full color. Cat does not have the dilute allele.

Yossarian entered his very first show on October 1 and 2.  Like his father, Yossarian has tremendous car sickness and while the Jazzy Cat Cat Show at Cal Expo should have been the ideal show, Yossarian wasn't having any of it.  He did receive many color ribbons, but would not open up to let the judges see just how pretty he is.
